What do people in different parts of the world eat in a typical week? How much do they pay for that amount of food? This excerpt in Time Magazine shows 15 of a series of photographs answering these questions. 
I really enjoyed the photographs - it was fascinating to really look at the types of food spread out, comparing the ratios of fresh produce to packaged products, just the sheer bulk of food to feed families of various sizes in different countries, but also the artistic qualities of the photographs themselves -- I mean, take a minute to appreciate the arrangment of the food items, the careful stacking of boxes, cans and other containers -- this is true art.I really want the book now. At a minimum I am going to B&N to look at it off the shelf. Then maybe it will go on my Christmas wish list.

OH MY GOD.. looking at the photos of what a "typical" family of 4 eats?? WOW.. although the 3 frozen pizzas seem like a lot.. hum.. must be because there are only 3 of us. The pictures are really cool, I have to admit that. This would probably show why american's are overweight. I mean looking at the 2 photos.. hum. really makes you think...

These two photos I posted here are Ecuador and Germany. Some of the families in the photos have up to 8 or 10 members ... and the dollar amounts spent range from just over $1 to over $300 for a week. Fascinating!
There's actually another great (older) book called "Material World" that photographs and interviews families from different countries with alltheir material possessions laid out. It's so interesting.
